Spotted Crake at Eton Wick

Just after 8am news came in from Mike Wallen of a Spotted Crake at Willen Lake.  Having already committed to other things for much of the day, it was not possible to get there in the time available.  Having already seen one at Willen Lake (in 1995!) I was not over concerned and thought I might go the following day.

However rather amazingly another Spotted Crake was found, this time at Eton Wick, just into Berkshire.  Being much closer I was able to get over there late afternoon with Mike and Rose Collard.  There was about five birders already there and watching the bird.  It was in view most of the time for the next 45 minutes or so.  It was rather distant but I did manage a couple of record shots.

Rather amazingly there was a Spotted Crake also at Eton Wick/Dorney Common in October 2000, which I also saw.  The site was only about 150 metres from todays sighting!
