Skylark at Stoke Common

By way of a change I visited Stoke Common.  There were not too many birds on view, which is pretty normal for this heathland habitat.  The only bird that I got close enough to photograph was this Skylark.  They can normally be found singing at this site in the Spring and in this case the bird was fairly close to the track I was walking on.  In this case the bird was conveniently perched on a log, rather than on the ground and hidden from view, as is often the case.
