Spoonbills - Little Marlow GP

Typical Spoonbills - asleep!

These three Spoonbills were present the afternoon of 23rd August.  The ringed bird is an adult while the other two birds are juveniles, so quite likely a family group.  The following morning the two juveniles had departed leaving the adult, which stayed into the following day.

The adult bird was ringed in Holland.  Details of exactly where and when are awaited.

Bempton Cliffs

This visit was too late in the season to see birds such as Guillemot and Razorbill, which had already left the cliffs.  Gannets take longer to mature and plenty of well grown chicks were on the nesting ledges.
Apparently there are 18,000 pairs breeding at the site and this is increasing!

Impressive cliffs!

I did not spend much time trying to photograph other species during my visit but a couple are below.
