St Mary's Island - Grey Seals

A family visit to Northumberland gave the opportunity to visit St Mary's Island to see the Grey Seals and a few birds.

Grey Seals - Perhaps 50 were present on the rocks.

Cormorants - Perched on a distinctive rock.

Grey Partridge - Seen next to the car park for St Mary's Island.
The first I have seen for a year or two!

Eider and Herring Gull  - Several male Eiders were seen in the area.

Alpine Accentor in Bucks!!

Moss expert Jamie Warren found this Buckinghamshire first record while looking for moss.  A good number of birders made their way over and I dare say that well over 100 will have seen the bird one this first day.  No doubt a lot more people will visit if it stays overnight.  This is probably the rarest bird ever to be found in the county!

The bird was feeding on a steep bank and ignored the watching 40 or so birders.

No doubt the rocky terrain made the bird feel somewhat at home!
